June 2015LightningNaples$2,000,000Lightning struck a house in the Aqualane Shores Neighborhood in Naples around 6 PM EDT. Fire-Rescue crews reported heavy smoke and fire coming out of the attic of the two-story house. It took crews close to three hours to extinguish the fire. The house sustained very heavy fire, smoke, heat and water damages with the losses estimated at close to $2 million dollars when factoring both structural and content losses. A firefighter was injured when a section of ceiling collapsed on the second floor, knocking him to the ground and causing shoulder and back injuries. He was transported to a local hospital.

Damage was estimated at 2 million dollars.

August 2014Flash FloodNaples$40,000Intense rainfall associated with several bands of thunderstorms developed across much of the Naples area during the early afternoon. The band moved little between 1230 EDT and 1500 EDT with the training of cells leading to copious rain amounts and severe street flooding in parts of Naples and Golden Gate. The first report of flooding was received from a trained spotter at 1405 EDT and stated that at least two feet of water was on roads near Airport Road and Mercantile Avenue with cars stalled out. The Collier County Sheriffs Office reported at around 1510 EDT that there was severe flooding and stalled vehicles from Collier Blvd. to Tamiami Trail with some roads closed. Rainfall totals included 7 inches at Naples Beach Hotel and Club with 6.73 inches at the Naples Municipal Airport. A trained spotter measured 4.21 inches in just under an hour in the area of Airport and Pine Ridge Roads.||A few businesses had water enter their structures, with one business estimating $12,000 in damage. Over 300 cars were towed from area streets due to stalling in deep water. Damage total indicated in this report is estimated and based on number of cars stalled as well as the damage to businesses from water intrusion.

Survey of damage revealed mostly broken tree branches, one which fell on and damaged a car, uprooted small trees and a palm tree split in half. A pool lanai was heavily damaged, but only minor roof damage was noted. Damage path indicated a low-end EF0 tornado with winds likely no more than 70-75 mph. Path length was discontinuous approximately 1.7 miles with width likely no more than 20 yards.

December 2007Tornado (EF0)North Naples$15,000A waterspout moved onshore along Pelican Bay's North Beach, causing damage to several structures at the Sandpiper Restaurant. The awning covering the restaurant's outdoor dining area was partially ripped off and part of its metal frame was damaged. Lounge chairs were thrown through several of the restaurant's windows, with chairs and beach umbrellas observed as far inland as Pelican Bay Boulevard, about a half-mile inland. ||Five vertical propane heaters were destroyed, and a 5-foot by 8-foot section of the roof was damaged.

The resulting electrical current traveled through conduits to the attic, where extensive damage was reported. Two adults and two children were in the home at the time and were able to get out safely. The home was deemed unlivable at the time of the incident.

These roads included the following in the Naples area: Park Shore and Crayton West Boulevard, Neapolitan Way and Gulfshore Blvd, the 3500 block of Crayton Road, 5th Avenue South and 10th Avenue South, and Golden Gate Parkway between Tamiami Trail/US 41 and Goodlette-Frank. The consistent rainfall and flooded roadways led to homes and businesses to flood. Time length of flooding is estimated. Rainfall measurements from the area indicated 2 to 3.25 inches of rain in just over an hour.

June 2020Flash FloodNorth Naples-Numerous reports from the public and social media of widespread street flooding in downtown Naples near the intersection of south 9th street and south 5th avenue through West Lake in Downtown Naples, where a sports utility vehicle was largely submerged into a storm-drain runoff area. The significant flooding extended northward along North Tamiami Trail, North of Naples Bay, where water was seen extending over street surfaces onto sidewalks and continuing across Quail Run Golf Club in Naples just south of Pine Ridge Road, where a few cars were flooded by becoming partially submerged in flood waters. Areas of flooding extended a couple feet deep over streets and surrounding property. A report from an automated rain gauge within Wunderground Network -- Site ID KFLNAPLE256, which is located near the intersection of Leeward Lane and Putter Point Drive recorded a total of 4.7 inches of rain that fell in association with heavy showers and thunderstorms over several hours.

January 2016Thunderstorm WindNaples-A line of severe storms moved onshore the Collier county coast, producing a 30 mile long, 2-4 mile swath of damage starting in the Naples area and ending in Immokalee.||As the line storms moved onshore, it beached several catamarans in the vicinity of Naples Pier. Extensive tree damage occurred around the Port Royal, Aqualane Shores, Royal Harbor, and Olde Naples areas near the coast; including large uprooted trees and snapped tree trunks. As the line moved further inland, boat and dock damage occurred at the Port of Naples Marina, as well as damage to a nearby construction site. Extensive tree and minor outbuilding damage occurred in and near the Naples Zoo. ||To the north, several planes were damaged at the Naples Municipal Airport along with extensive tree, shed, and outbuilding damage in the vicinity of the airport. Intermittent damage occurred as the line moved further east across I-75, with more concentrated damage in the northwest portions of Golden Gate City. In addition to tree damage, numerous street signs were downed along with fence damage. Just to the northeast in Golden Gate Estates, a significant area of concentrated damage occurred with dozen of very large trees, power lines and fences downed along with heavily damaged outbuildings. Sporadic damage occurred further northeast through Orange Tree. The last area of observed damage was in the Immokalee Seminole Indian Reservation where winds damaged fences, power lines, outbuildings, and trees.||Wind gusts throughout the area of damage were 70 to 90 mph, supported by nearby measured gusts.
