Population over time
2 figuresBentley fell from 118 to 93 between 2010 and 2020. These are the recorded population figures Wikidata holds for this place, reached through the Geographic Names Information System number this page is keyed on rather than by name, so they belong to this place and not to another of the same name. Most are census counts, but not all are: an early figure may be a founding or settlement estimate, and an estimate published within five years of a census is left out. The change column is computed, and is left blank where more than 20 years separate a figure from the one before it, because a gap that long is not a change between two counts.

Storms near this place
6 since 1995Regional context, not property-specific evidence. The National Weather Service names Bentley in 6 storm reports between 1995 and 2021: 2 hail, 2 thunderstorm wind, 2 tornado. No death or injury is recorded in these reports. Each account below is quoted exactly as the forecast office filed it, from the NOAA Storm Events Database, and each date opens the federal record of that event.
| When | Event | Place named | Harm | What the report says |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| December 2021 | Tornado (EF2) | Bentley | - | A narrow EF-2 tornado began producing damage near Mahogany Road and 290th St and tracked north northeast into the southeast edge of Neola and then caused intermittent damage near Railroad Highway North of Neola. The most significant damage was to a home along 290th street where the roof was removed and walls blown out. A nearby garage was moved off of its foundation and approximately 10 mature trees were all uprooted behind the home with substantial damage to hardwood trees in the front yard. The narrow nature of this tornado was evident in the damage path as nearby barns on the east side of the track had low-end damage, possibly owing to the significant forward speed of the tornado. The tornado was seen briefly by the resident before seeking shelter. A business on the southeast side of Neola also had substantial damage to large metal buildings, at least two of which were destroyed. |
| June 2014 | Tornado (EF2) | Bentley | - | This short-lived tornado impacted a number of farmsteads as it tracked quickly to the southeast. The tornado downed trees, power lines, and completely destroyed outbuildings along its path. The tornado was embedded within a larger area of damaging winds associated with this intense supercell. |
| June 2014 | Thunderstorm Wind | Bentley | - | A particularly intense downburst associated with a supercell occurred from near 8 miles northwest of Oakland through the city of Oakland. Embedded within the downburst was a significant tornado to the west of Oakland, but otherwise the damage was caused by straight line winds. The winds downed high-tension electrical lines, downed trees, and produced some structural damage. |
| July 2012 | Hail | Bentley | - | Approximately 50 acres of crops were completely flattened in an area approximately 2.5 miles long and 1 mile wide centered near 340th and Juniper Rd. In this area the hail covered the ground white with a few stones nearly half dollar-size and was accompanied by winds at least at 40 mph. Otherwise damage was spotty. Heavy rain also accompanied the thunderstorm reducing visibility to a quarter mile or less along Highway 6 for a short period of time. In Oakland, a report of 0.80 inches of rain fell in 15 minutes. |
