The modern record here
4 settlementsWhat the federal record holds for each settlement inside this township: wildfires and storm reports since the 1950s, mineral workings, and museum specimens collected nearby. These are counted within a few miles of each settlement, so neighbours share them and the columns are deliberately not added up. Every row links to the settlement's own page, where each figure is broken out.

The chapter
123 wordsReproduced complete and unedited from With The Colors in Pike County, Illinois, published 1920. The text is machine-read from scans, so expect recognition errors: misspelled names, dropped words, and stray characters. Nothing has been corrected, because correcting a proper name invents one. The headings below are the books' own; source changes are labelled in place.
Levee Township
The Levee Branch of the Pike County Red Cross was organized in the summer of 1917 with the following officers: Chairman, Mrs. Elizabeth Trew; vice-chairman, Lola Scoville; secretary, Fanny Howarth; treasurer, Mary J. Stolte.
The largest number of members at any one time was 59. Because of the small number of people living in this district and the lack of a place for a work room, there was no work in this line done in this Branch. Miss Maggte McGary, teacher of the Bird Slough School, gave a Red Cross sale at the Sni E'Carte Clubhouse April 19, 1918, and raised $115.40. The Red Cross served lunch June 28, 1918, and made $18.10. All other money was that collected for Red Cross memberships.
