Lenora, the town this property stands in, in 64 storm reports between 1993 and 2024: 34 hail, 26 thunderstorm wind, 2 tornado, 1 flash flood.
No death or injury is recorded in these reports. Each account below is quoted exactly as the forecast office
filed it, from the NOAA Storm Events Database, and each date
opens the federal record of that event.
As a strong thunderstorm moved over the town of Lenora, a large healthy hardwood tree was split in half down the trunk. Half of the tree remained upright while the other half landed on the roof of a home and damaged several wooden fence panels.
The tornado tracked northeast through Lenora, then turned more to the north. In Lenora windows and garage doors were blown out/damaged. In addition to the window damage, an aluminum door was folded and mangled at the Coop. Trees were blown through windows in town along with some minor damage to outbuildings. A Nex-Tech building had the roof blown off of it and onto the highway.
Rainfall totaled over five inches at Norton Dam, and newspaper accounts later stated that flooding occurred across parts of the county with some roads southeast of Lenora closed due to water flowing across the road. A large part of the county received three to five inches of rainfall overnight which washed out some county roads.
Decaying thunderstorms east of Lenora produced a minor heat burst event. Temperatures rose from 64 to 73 degrees F between 10:50 pm CDT and 12:30 am CDT accompanied by winds of 67 mph. No known damage. Gusty winds persisted over 2 hours.
58 mph gust recorded at Lenora School. Higher gusts likely across town with numerous tree limbs up to 6 inches in diameter down. One 12 inch diameter tree blown over.
