A severe thunderstorm downed a tree and several large limbs in the village of Marcellus. The downed tree landed on a vehicle parked at the corner of S. Centre and Dibble Street. Limbs and power lines were downed on N. Centre and North Streets and at the corner of Arbor and Snyder Street.
A survey of damage indicated the start of a roughly one mile wide swath of wind damage across northeastern Cass county. Numerous trees were damaged as a result of a concentrated burst of wind that continued into St. Joseph county in Michigan. Winds were likely in the 70 to 75 mph range as the line of storms moved into St. Joseph county.
Highway 40, just south of Marcellus, was flooded for several hours as 5 to 6 inches of rain fell between 430 pm and 9 pm EST. No injuries or rescues were reported due to the flooding.
