August 2025	Tornado (EF1)	Hatton	-	This tornado developed about 2.8 miles east of Hatton and tracked northeast. It damaged a farmstead where the garage door of large shed was torn off, a tree was uprooted, and numerous large branches were broken. Numerous large tree branches snapped and uprooted along path as it tracked northeast crossed multiple shelterbelts. Time estimated from KVX radar. TDS observed on radar. Sentinel-2 high resolution satellite imagery reveals crop damage along the path. Maximum wind speed is estimated at 104 mph based on the tree damage.

June 2017	Tornado (EF0)	Hatton	-	This tornado began in Steele County, about two miles west-southwest of Hatton at 1159 am CST. This tornado was viewed by the Grand Forks Air Traffic Control Tower for nearly 11 minutes, and was initially estimated as being 7 miles southwest of the Grand Forks airport. The tornado had a dramatic dust swirl which was captured on video and photos. Some ground scarring was evident, otherwise no damage was detected. Peak winds were estimated at 80 mph.
July 2017	Hail	Hatton	-	Quarter to golf ball size hail was reported.
July 2014	Thunderstorm Wind	Hatton	-	Widespread tree damage occurred throughout Newburgh and Garfield townships in northeast Steele County. At one homestead north of Hatton, several poplar trees were snapped and a patio cover was torn off a house and demolished. Tree damage continued into adjacent townships in Grand Forks and Traill counties.
July 2012	Thunderstorm Wind	Hatton	-	Tree damage was reported. Some of the branches took down power lines as they fell.
October 2007	Thunderstorm Wind	Hatton	-	Several large tree branches were knocked down in a shelterbelt. Portions of a ripe bean field were flattened.
August 2006	Thunderstorm Wind	Hatton	-	Large branches were blown down.
May 2005	Tornado (F0)	Hatton	-	Intermittent touchdowns occurred in northwest Traill county, from the Steele county line northwest of Hatton to the Grand Forks county line northeast of Hatton.
