A swine feeder facility was hit hard by the strong winds. Two barns were destroyed, two more were severely damaged, and another lost part of its roof. 8,500 swine had to be shipped out.
The tornado flipped over a semi truck and uprooted numerous trees. An 8-stall garage was blown off its foundation and destroyed. Some debris from the garage was thrown through the 8-plex apartment walls. A fence around the 8-plex was also destroyed. Some brick facade collapsed onto the roof of the Towner county courthouse, partially caving in a section of roof.
6.25 inches of rain fell in the Cando area, which caused problems for a section of road construction. Large ponds formed along a 12 mile stretch of highway 281. Rushing coulee water washed out a bypass road around a bridge being fixed. Several gravel roads had washouts and grain fields were flattened. In Cando, streets, several fairways at the town golf course, and some basements filled with water.
