Beulah, the town this property stands in, in 72 storm reports between 1993 and 2024: 38 hail, 26 thunderstorm wind, 3 tornado, 2 funnel cloud.
No death or injury is recorded in these reports. Each account below is quoted exactly as the forecast office
filed it, from the NOAA Storm Events Database, and each date
opens the federal record of that event.
Estimated winds of 60 mph were reported. A light pole at a gas station in Beulah was blown over, along with several trees in the town of Beulah blown down. Blown over trees or branches knocked utility lines to the ground, momentarily disrupting power.
A tornado touched down in Mercer County and impacted a farmstead. A large cottonwood tree was uprooted and two grain bins were destroyed. The damage corresponded to a middle EF0 on the Enhanced Fujita Tornado Scale. From that it was determined that wind speeds were around 75 mph.
Flash flooding between the cities of Beulah and Hazen, along each side of highway 200, and in the city of Beulah. Major roads were not flooded while some county roads were under water and partially washed out. A few streets in Beulah were closed due to high water.
This tornado was reported by law enforcement. It moved near Beulah, Mercer County, just to the west and north of the city. No damage was reported. The same thunderstorm complex that produced this tornado in Mercer County produced one earlier northwest of Golden Valley, Mercer County, and one before that south of Manning in Dunn County. See Dunn County and other Mercer County tornado entries.
Hail size ranged from ping pong ball to golfball sized. Strong winds up to 60 miles per hour accompanied the hail. The wind driven hail resulted in area crop damage.
