Population over time

2 figures

Malmo fell from 120 to 94 between 2010 and 2020. These are the recorded population figures Wikidata holds for this place, reached through the Geographic Names Information System number this page is keyed on rather than by name, so they belong to this place and not to another of the same name. Most are census counts, but not all are: an early figure may be a founding or settlement estimate, and an estimate published within five years of a census is left out. The change column is computed, and is left blank where more than 20 years separate a figure from the one before it, because a gap that long is not a change between two counts.

May 2024Flash FloodMalmo$250,000Several prolonged rounds of heavy rain during the early morning hours of the 21st led to flash flooding across central and northeast Saunders County. A National Weather Service employee reported water flowing over U.S. Highway 77 shortly after 7 AM, with traffic cameras showing widespread flooding across fields and roads in and around Wahoo. The Saunders County Emergency Manager also reported 6 homes flooded in Lashara, 4 of which had residents that needed to be evacuated.
June 2001Flash FloodMalmo$2,000The same supercell that produced the brief tornado touchdown near Weston also dumped around 2 inches of rain over Saunders county in a short amount of time. This rain caused a normally nearly dry creek north of Malmo to flood. The flood waters swept a car with 4 people in it 200 feet downstream from the low maintenance road they were on. The road was marked with high water signs. Two of the people managed to escaped promptly, but the other two went under water a few times before either managing to make it to shore or being rescued by a neighbor who was summoned to help.
