Washington, D. C. 20006 Dear Richard: RE: 25-71-00004 This is to confirm our telephone call of today, about the Barnstable Jail. The Barnstable Historical Commission is ready to go to work, but wants information on two points.
1: Has it met the "special conditions" in the agreement between the Massachusetts Historical Commission and the Office of Archeology and Historic Preservation. These are: "As soon as they are available, send this office one set of plans or shop drawings if any work other than relocation." 2: Can an advance be secured, since bids are about to go out, and they will amount to more than the town of Barnstable has appropriated. Your answer was that it appeared that no work other than relocation would be done and that therefore no plans were needed, and that as we had the proper forms for securing an advance, all that is necessary is to fill one out, and have Secretary Davoren sign it and send it in. Would you send me a line confirming this? Or you might use a device my friend the Archivist of Colorado uses.
She simply writes in longhand her answer on my letter, and then sends me a xerox of the letter and its anwer. Thanks for answering me so promptly. Sincerely, Sichadus Hal 2 Richard W.
