Description of the property

The Rider Tavern of 1818 was a diminutive, one-story structure, probably Jonathan Goldsmith, Lake County's most famous builder, designed and roof. There were two entrances: the men's entrance led to a barroom In 1865 the building was converted into a residence, thus changing the interior planning. A ballroom, said to contain one of Goldsmith's famed spring floors, then covered much of the second floor.
