Sarah, the widow of Isaac Austin Brooks, the American Consul to Liverpool and Charles Brooks' first cousin, lived in the house from 1892 until her death in 1906. published eight books of poetry and fiction, the first called the Legend of Saint Christopher and Other Poems, and the last, püblished in 1904, called A Garden with House Attached. This book was a description of the gardens at the Charles Brooks House, and of her life there.
