A two story "L" shaped braced-frame house with a one story shed roofed addition to the moved further to the rear to allow construction of a two story addition in what is now the center of the house. is horizontal wood siding typical to all elevations. The first, or western most, bay is the paneled door flanked on each side by four light side lights with solid panels below. A five light transom is over the entrance. Six over six double hung windows with wood architraves and louvered shutters lie in the remaining two bays. Edge boards is boxed in, and above is a slate roof. end. The center part is the two story later addition which has a gable roof framing into that of the front at a right angle, and at the same elevation. The third part windows with architraves and shutters, and roof slate match the facade.
No windows In the center part is an entrance, flanked on each side by a typical window. A large evenly in the second level, and above is a boxed in eave. Statement of significance

The Bolton House is one of the best examples of the pre-Victorian, antebe1lum area was already subdivided. Originally constructed less than a mile west of Newark, the Bolton House was utilized constructed about 1836 by Elias Williams, a carpenter born in Wales in 1800. sold to Samuel B. King, a prominent real estate agent from Newark who presumably rented of a Newark tinware and stove works. Walker was a harbinger of a 20th century trend William Palmer, a local contractor, acquired the property in 1919, and the Palmers were responsible for the careful maintenance of the house and its restoration/ in survey work, but few date as early as this structure, and most have suffered through the use of artifical coverings and other unsympathetic alterations. Fúthermore, an examination of the tax duplicates for Newark for the 1830s show a predominance of frame construction over brick.
The Bolton House is therefore, additionally signifi- comparatively unaltered condition.
