Description of the property

This is a 2t-story L-shaped residence in brick, laid in common bond. The found- ation is of huge sandstone, quarried on the site, rising about eighteen inches above side, but this was removed sometime after 1907, perhaps as a consequence of the 1913 corner of the house, near where an ell extends from the main portion of the house, there is a secondary entrance featuring a one-story réstrained porch: The ell itself belvedere, complete with a widow's walk, at the center of the west slope of the roof side of the first floor of the main portion of the house holds a ballroom 18'x36'. On the second floor, each of the bedrooms measures 18'x18'.There were originally ten fireplaces, including one large cooking fireplace in the kitchen. Only seven remain. Predictably, the firefronts on the second floor fireplaces are less ornate than those on the first.
Most of the doorways are of the four-panel style, and are adorned with winding stairway with a subdued cherry balustrade. All of the building materials used in the construction of the house originated on the property, except for the slate and garage, 12'x20', built of paving brick (from the Harris Brick Factory In Zanesville); CONDITION UNEXPOSED UNALTERED XALTERED CHECK ONE _DETERIORATED many of the original accoutrements.From the first floor hallway springs a handsome X.EXCELLENT _FAIR -GOOD through a trabeated door with a fixed transom and movable sidelights.
