Further Description of Important Features The main entrance is set off by a one-story open porch; the doorway has an elliptical archway with radiating voussoirs and a wooden transom panel with carved words "Williard Hall". A tower at east side of the porch has a dome and stone entablature. The windows are elliptical and have radiating voussoirs. A 1 1/2-story section in the rear, originally used as a kitchen is connected by a walkway. A walkway, connecting Williard to Miller Hall(over) 43. History and Significance Williard Hall was the first of the gray limestone building s and set the trend for college buildings built afterwards. Williard was originally a women's dormitory, and was so until 1972, when it became a men's dormitory. It was named after George W.

Williard, fourth president of the college, under whose administration the first women's residence house was built. It was built through funds raised by the people of Tiffin and Seneca County. 44.
