Distance from and Frontage on Road 102'--90' 42. Further Description of Important Features Twin entrances have cut stone heads and quoins. Window are elliptical with radiating voussoirs. Center section set off by twin gables at ends. "Stone panel" between floors on center section has name, "Science Hall". An oriel window is on the rear--first floor. A greenhouse has been added on the west side. An enclosed walkway to Bareis Hall has been added in the rear, which probably removed a second oriel window. (Over) 43. History and Significance Laird Hall was donated by Mrs. Della Shawhan Laird, the widow of Rezin W. Shawhan, a Tiffin businessman who contributed to the college in earlier days. Originally used for all sciences, it now houses only the biological sciences. The building also houses the Jones Mineral and Biology Museums. 44.

Description of Environment and Outbuildings Laird Hall sits at the corner of Greenfield and Ledges Streets. Bareis Hall is connected by walkway in rear. 45. A new basement entrance has been added in the rear under the oriel window, along with a stone wall projecting perpendicular from the building. Five basement windows have been closed, and two partially closed. The cornerstone records the date 1911.
