Further Description of Important Features The main entrance, with gothic arch doorway and quoins are set at base of a tower. The name "France Hall" is set in stone carving above the arch. Mullion windows have quoins, plain stone lintels and plain lug sills. Four gable dormers are on the west side, and a shed dormer on the north. A bay window is on the front, just to the east of the tower. A two-story section in the rear is connected by a first floor walkway. (Over) 43. History and Significance Given as a women's dormitory by George A. France of Toledo, Ohio, a member of the Board of Regents, in memory of his mother. It also houses the women's society halls. 44. Description of Environment and Outbuildings France Hall faces on Greenfield Street and is connected by walkway to Brown Hall on the west. Williard Hall is on opposite side of the street. 45.
