Distance from and Frontage on Road 40' Further Description of Important Features tory and one-half Greek Revival house with ten unusual exposed base and a coursed ashlar retaining wall. Five bay facade with widely projecting architrave and three smaller windows in the attic above. Side wing added later. Large barn with pinned louvres with round-arched detail. Cantilever on both sides with end brackets. History and Significance Roswell Hopkins was born in Bath, his parents having moved there in 1813. They had bought a large tract of land in southwestern Bath but suffered from the economic slump and city of money following the war of 1812 so that they almost lost the property. Despite limited education Hopkins farmed successfully till 1871 after that he sold this land to House I. Smith Description of Environment and Outbuildings: He owned another tract, 250 acres, including a saw mill.
