Further Description of Important Features The original building had three round arched stained glass windows in facade with three sma ler arched windows in gable peak. Two sets of double doors wer on edge of building with off-center square tower with top-heavy spire on northeast corner of facade. '54 addition blocks original facade. Interior remodelling consisted of burning and ch ng up ars with replacement of modern stu es. Brutal inter tion of stations of cross and parish s ined all 43.

History and Significance First Catholic to settle in this section of Ohio that had a circle of French speaking Priests was in 1823. Father Navarron, itinerant Catholic missionary, served early parishes until Precious Blood fathers came in the early 1850's. Early settlers arrived here in winter and thought the land looked like European "Russia." Log church built in 1840 at St. Valbert's until St. Remy's was built 1850. 44.
