The main section is two stories and features a massive entablature with partial returns.

Recessed below this section and supported by four square columns is the front porch which has an elaborate front doorway. In the same plane with the front doorway are two one story lateral wings. The interior has been restored and features original walnut woodwork and some colored glass windows. 43. History and Significance On the site of this house stood a large Indian mound, the highest point in town, that was graded for its construction. The rear section of the house was constructed first. Peris Sprague, a State Senator, acquired this property in 1828. Later, it was owned by George Deaver, a direct relation to the present owner. This is one of Fredericktown's finest and best preserved early houses. 44. Description of Environment and Outbuildings The house is located on a small lot in a residential area. Immediately to the west is the old Methodist Church. 45.
