Historical significance (include explanation of themes checked above) Virtually identical to the central portion of the Elizabeth Street Schoolhouse oi 1091, also designed by George Clemence (Form 11(-D), the artmouth Street schoolhouse contains two sections, both designed by George Clemence. The building's first section (west) contains an entry tower with an arched entry, roundels, tri-partite arched windows and a high pyramidal roof. Attached to the tower is the main body of the building with high arched window surrounds (2d storey), brick diapering, a slate- Built in an area that underwent extensive development with "three-decker" apartment houses in the early twentieth century, the Dartmouth Street Schoolhouse was expanded eastward in 1908.
This two-storey addition bears some of the same decorative motifs as the original building (arched window surrounds and brick diapering) although it is enclosed by a flat roof surrounded by a stepped parapet. ad a Sohiolnouso Presently in use as a schoolhouse, the Dartmouth Street Schoolhouse is unaltered since 1908. 10.
