Description - excellent X unaltered _moved date X fair facing the highway. The building is rectangular in plan, symmetrical, with a center mately 12" thick masonry plastered on the inside. Interior partitions are plastered include the date of 1804 at one corner. Originally there was not a full basement, but including a large fireplace on one end of the building. The original masonry does not The nain entrance is of the Adams Style with flanking fluted columns.
The entrance woodwork is in poor shape, but enough of the original remains for an accurate recon- to the entrance have been replaced by concrete, but the original steps are still located adjacent to the concrete steps. The stairway between the first and second floor is in the center hallway, and the basement rail and picture rail. The doors are panelled and connected with dowel pins. wallpaper is under plaster which has a very thin finish coat of rather poor quality. There are five existing outbuildings on the site: but has recently collapsed. The Corncrib. This building is approximately 21'x25' and is of an unusual con- hand-hewn beams, no ridge pole. It is in need of repair. has mortise and tenon joists, hand-hewn timbers, and no ridge pole. There is a 18'x40' addition. Condition unexposed ruins are rectangular and painted. Interior woodwork appears tobe largely original.Most rooms seen to have had chair There is a rear addition to the building of frame construction which houses the kitchen, hand-hewn logs, it has no ridge pole.The building is full of very old implements, The building is a two-story 5-bay brick house laid in Flemish bond, with a long side on wood stud partitions. The cornice line of the facade features a saw-tooth brick struction. The doorway is a single door with transom. The original stone steps leading stairs are located under it. It appears that the handrail is of cherry, and the newels All four interior rooms have had fireplaces on the ends. Two of the fireplaces appear 1. The Carriage Barn. According to oral tradition, this house was the model for Federalton, the home of Daniel Stewart built from 1815 to 1817 (NR-8/13/76). The century agriculture that it provides, complete with equipment. Agriculture has in 1897, in whose family it still remains. It was a working farm until the 1930s, when it was abandoned and has since seen very little maintenance. All the pre-1930 farming equipment and machinery however, is still largely present within the outbuildings. present owners plan to restore the house and outbuildings in the immediate future and historically not been that successful in this part of the state because of the hilly fortunately, little is known of his Ohio activities.
