Historical significance (include explanation of themes checked above) This late Federal frame residence was moved to this location from an unknown site about 1900.
Similar to other houses of the period 1810-1830, it is an unusual survivor of the first period of the development of East Cambridge and features 6 over 6 sash windows. The simple window moldings and doorway illustrate the type of architecture which once typified the area. A sensitive restoration sympathetic to the structure's origins has made this a local landmark. A search of records has yet to reveal the original site for this house and the precise reason for its move to this location c.1900. Its move probably relates to the construction of either part of the court house complex or development near the Broad Canal. Due to limited access into this area at the time, it cannot have been moved far and represents one of the few surviving examples of Federal frame construction in this area. 10.
