Historical significance (include explanation of themes checked above) The Walter Frost house, built in 1807, once stood on Massa- chusetts Avenue at the corner of Roseland Street, the first in the line of the mansions along the avenue. It was moved to its present site in 1866 to make way for the Noeth Avenue Congregational Church. The Frost family was responsible for the nineteenth century.

The high, narrow Federal style structure is unaltered except for a later Greek Revival porch. The Frost house is a handsome example of an architectural type that has not survived in large numbers in Cambridge, and is an excellent example of the type of house lived in during the early nineteenth century by people of modest means. 10.
