Description _ excellent & original site & good .ruins The original house is a 2 story, frame dwelling in the Greek revival style. The three bay facade faces S.F. toward the Maumee River. The most immpressive element have double-hung, 6/6 light windows.
The frieze and cornice are plain. This main block is on a foundation of large blocks of dressed stone. A bedroom on the northeast was extended to make a den and porch and a breezeway was Behind the parlor is a living room/library. Behind the hall is the dining room. (in one paragraph) Although the Greek revival style is quite prevalent in northeast Ohio, there are fewer good examples in the northwest region of the state. Both the detailing of the house and its site overlooking the Maumee River make this an example of one of the finest family since its construction in 1855. The two-story 3 bay Greek Revival styled house like the Isham House is a building type which once dotted the lower Maumee Valley streching from Defiance on the west to Maumee who was involved in the construction and operation of the Miami and Erie Canal, the the canal, which he ocuppied from 1858 to 1861. His house was constructed overlooking is significant not only for its ties to the overall historic landscape of the lower Maumee Valley, but also through its association of the owner with the historic commerce Virginia.
