The building stands two-stories high, rising from a rock-faced granite plinth to a high hip roof.
The facade(east) is asymmetrical and is dominated by two towers which mark its original corners. Set between the towers are two sets of tri-partite windows and a porch (lst storey), and three arched windows (2nd storey) - The north tower rises from a set of tripartite windows (lst storey) to paired arched windows (2nd storey), a cornice and hip roof; before it was destroyed in the hurricane of 1938, this tower rose to a belfry. SEE CONTINUATION SHEET HISTORICAL SIGNIFICANCE (explain the role owners played in local or state history and how the building relates to the development of the community) Constructed in 1878-1879, the Uxbridge Town Hall was the product of a design competition limited to proposals costing less than $12,000 for which at least three entries were submitted, one by Amos Cutting of Worcester and two by Ferry & Gardner of Springfield.

The first building const- ructed exclusively for the use of Uxbridge's town government, the Town Hall was planned to contain offices and a small auditorium at the first storey and a large public hall at the second storey.
The building's completion was cele- brated by a "grand concert and ball" which also raised money to pay for inter- ior shutters to prevent the "outside audiences of Judson's hill from looking From 1879 until the present, the building has served not only as the site of town meeting and town government, but also as a social center of the community; during the 1880's, the upstairs hall served a variety of purposes including a roller skating rink, a use which was banned in 1886 when it was realized that the floor had already been worn out. Interior fittings of the building's major rooms remain largely intact and include pressed metal ceilings, wooden wainscots, panelled doors and a variety of Vic- torian Gothic style wooden trim around doors and windows.
The Uxbridge Town Hall possesses integrity of location, design, setting, materials and workmanship, as well as historical associations as the seat of the Town government since 1879. ARCHITECTURAL SIGNIFICANCE The south tower contains an entry (lst storey) and a vertical stadk of windows above, reflecting the placement of interior stairways. Trim consists of bands of decorative brickwork, blackened bricks, rock-faced granite window trim and a brick cornice. North of the north tower is a two-storey addition built after the hurricane of 1938 and designed in the same manner as the original building. South of the Town Hall is a fire station, which is joined to the Town Hall only by a gateway on its east elevation.
