Description of the property

The Kenton Public Library is located in downtown Kenton and is a l 1/2 story rectangular windows is at the rear of the building. The lower row of windows in this wing have been oak woodwork which remain intact. A large leaded skylight is in the center of the vestibule. Condition fair unexposed Check one slightly projecting cornice surrounds the building.Pairs of windows within a single frame brick building constructed on a raised basement.It has a stone water-table and two- story portico reached by a flight of stairs.
The projecting central portico has a full by a full entablature with detail work and a sign reading "Open to A11." Statement of significance

(in one paragraph) for self-education in the second half of the 19th century with a Library Association dating The Kenton Library Association was founded in 1853 partly as a lyceum and entertainment center, but it was not until 1886 that an actual physical library was established in the upstairs of a downtown commercial block. The 1905 building was erected with the benefit tion of its educational value for all ages, it was erected only 200' from the high school the library's abandonment of it in 1969. The building, built in 1905, represents the culmination of efforts by civic for the Ohio Northern University facility. Meeting rooms in the county were used by the public as a community center and by business and civic leaders as a meeting hall.
In more recent years it has served as the museum for the Hardin County Historical Society following even a preliminary review has indicated the predominance of the central portico in at least seven other libraries in the state built in 1902, 1903 and 1904.
