(Staple additional sheets here) UTM: Salem Depot I:25,000 19/322120/4739420 ARCHITECTURAL SIGNIFICANCE (Describe important architectural features and evaluate in terms of other buildings within the community.) 58 Ayers Village Roadis a 1½-story vernacular cottage dating from the mid 18th century. The narrow central entry is lit by a four-paned transom and flanked by small 2/2 windows. The size of the window openings is probably original, but the sash is a late 19th century replacement.
The clapboard-clad building has a steeply pitched roof and rests on a granite foundation. 38 Ayers Village Road is one of few 1½-story dwellings extant in Methuen. HISTORICAL SIGNIFICANCE (Explain the role owners played in local or state history and how the building relates to the development of the community.) 58 Ayers Village Road is significant as a well preserved 18th century dwelling in the northeast corner of Methuen, near the Haverhill line. The building is associated with the 18th and 19th century agricultural history of Methuen, and conserves a portion of the original rural landscape. thuren tayderioil tur It possesses integrity of location, design, setting, materials, and workmanship and meets criterion C of the National Register of Historic Places.
