Constructed c, 1820, it is a symetrical, five bay, center entry and chinmey: one story eosed by a pitched roof with what are likely to be original pedimented dormers. projects to the rear from the northwest corner.. kesting on a granite foundation, the house 1s sheatned with clapboards on all sides except the facade which is flush boarded in imitation of grander structures like the Sweetser House (#36). .Windows.
contain 6/6 sash in simple architrave moldings and the entry is framed by 3/4 length side lights. Pointed arch windows light the gables. A full one story front porch, supported on Tuscan columns and a fieldstone base was probably added in the early twentieth-century. The house faces south on William Street in a mid-twentieth century residential setting, HISTORICAL SIGNIFICANCE (explain the role owners played in local or state history and how the building relates to the development of the community) 391 William Street possesses integrity of location, design, materials and workmanship and 15 significant as a locally pretentious example of a Greek Revival cottage. . It meets criterion C of the National Register of Historic Places.
This property was held by members of the Richardson family, who owned a large portion of land on the north side of William Street from their settlement in the eighteenth century.
