The wrap around veranda, whose roof is supported by hasket handle arches, is extravagant for such a small structure. The gable embellishment reminiscent of half-timbering, the staggered-butt shingles in the gable end, and the wide, arched veranda brackets make a cozy "English cottage" statement. (HISTORICAL SIGNIFICANCE (explain the role owners played in local or state history and how the building relates to the development of the community) The sidestreets on the east side of Reading seem to have been the home of the lower middle-and working-class folk, insofar as a definite class structure can be perceived.
