UTM: 19/322000/4697550 (Staple additional sheets here) ARCHITECTURAL SIGVIFICANCE (Describe important architectural features and evaluate in terms of other buildings within the conmunity.) This well-crafted house is one of the best examples of the pure Queen Anne Style in Arlington. Its steeply pitched roof with front-facing gable and contrasting surface textures are typical of the Queen Anne house. The first story's smooth dark clapboards with darker trim contrast with the rough, light-colored bevelled shingles, arranged in a scallop pattern, on the second story. The recessed corner entrance porch,which exhibits turned spindles, spool-work transoms, and curving brackets is also typical.

Bartlett's estate. Bartlett's house faced Massachusetts Avenue to the east of Bartlett Avenue. The Cushman House was constructed during the initial phase of BartlettAvenue's development in the 1890s and it appears in the 1898 Stadley and Company Atlas, labeled Cushman. By 1923, it was owned by Ellen Parson. CRITERIA FOR EVALUATION The Cushman House possesses integrity of location, design, setting, materials, workmanship, feeling, and association. As a fine exame of the Queen Anne style, 1t meets Criterion C of the National Register of Historic Places.
