UTM: 322450/4698340 (Staple additional sheets here) ARCHITECTURAL SIGNIFICANCE (Describe important architectural features and evaluate in terms of other buildings within the commmity.) The Second A.P. Cutter House is a well-proportioned three-bay house displaying an Italianate ferm and features. Pilasters define the bays and the window surrounds include simple brackets. The central window is further defined by a slightly curving pediment. The double entrance has an Italianate single-story porch topped with a balustrade. The Cutter House retains some of its original. landscaping features: a low granite retaining wall, and two steps, framed by granite posts, which lead from the street.
The double doorway is a 20th century replacement. HISTORICAL SIGNIFICANCE (Explain the role owners played in local or state history and how the building relates to the development of the commmity.) This may be the house that was built for the sons of A. P. Cutter (Charles, Waldo, and Edward). The Cutters were among Arlington's original settlers. CRITERIA FOR EVALUATION The Second A. P. Cutter House retains integrity of location, design, setting, materials, workmanship, feeling, and association. Nominated primarily for its fine Italianate form and original landscapeing, it meets Criterion C of the National Register of Historic Places.
