A handsome hpuse, although somewhat altered, it is somewhat difficult to date as its original location on Massachusetts Avenue is not known. It was moved to its present site in the 1930s. It is a well-preserved example of the. Second Empire Style, with much decorative detailing, included eared surrounds on the upper windows. HISTORICAL SIGNIFICANCE (Explain the role owners played in local or state history and how the building relates to the development of the commmity. This structure formerly stood on Massachusetts Avenue.
At the time of its construction Arlington was becoming increasingly sophisticated, changing from a rural community to a bustling Boston suburb. The Second Empire style of this- building reflects--its- - - sophistication.. Its removal to a side street off Massachusetts Avenue was typical as the avenue began to develop commercially. . .
