Most of the homes in the Whittemore Park section of East Arlington are commodious 2½-story residences whose form evolved from the Shingle -and Colonial Revival. styles. This house is one of the best-preserved bungelows in Arlington HISTORICAL SIGNIFICANCE (Explain the role owners played in local or state history and how the building relates to the development of the commmity.) For many years this house!s lot was part of the Wittemore estate, and it was later part of the farm of George L. Thorndike.
The flatlands, of east Arlington were ideal for mar- ket gardening. After World War I, the Thorndike estate was carved up into streets; a development, Whittemore Park, grew up in the area. Built ca. 1920, the house was - edzup ento suseets first occupied by Alfred E. Robindreau, a poultry dealer. CRITERIA FOR EVALUATION: The Alfred E. Robindreau House possesses integrity of location, design, setting, materials, workmanship, feeling, and association. As. one of the best-preserved bungalows in Arlington, it meets criterion C for the National Register of Historic Places.
