Historical Commission Moved No N/A Date Approx. acreage _less than one acre Setting_ The house is situated in a thickly settled residential area. arn: +91323800/4696960 (Staple additional sheets here) ARCHITECTURAL SIGVIFICANCE (Describe important architectural features and evaluate in terms of other buildings within the commmity.) - This house was originally owned by the Robinson Family; it and its stylistic twin next door (13 Winter Street, #617) the open land between them, and the fine old trees - pear, copper beach & silver maple that grace their properties form a particularly mid 19th century ensemble. Despite the presence of aluminum siding, the Robinson House is a fine example of the Greek Revival style, with full-length windows, pedimented front gable, and a full colonnaded porch wrapping around two sides of the building.
HISTORICAL SIGNIFICANCE (Explain the role owners played in local or state history and how the building relates to the development of the commmity.) Both the Robinson House and the W.W. Kimbal1 House were in all probability built for speculative purposes. In 1846, regular train service commenced from Boston through Arlingtor, and developmen increased along Massachusetts Avenue. CRITERIA FOR EVALUATION The Robinson House possess integrity of location, design, setting, workmanship, feeling, and association. With associations with Arlingtonks early suburban development,aand as a fine example of the Greek Revival style, lit meets Criteria A and C of the National Register of Historic Places.
