Altered in 1951 to accomodate larger fire trucks, it was originally designed by G. Fred Crosby, a native Brooklinite, whose office was located on Tremont Street in Boston. All work on the building was performed by Brookline mechanies, ac- cording to an article in The Suburban which also stated that: this new house, known as a three door house, Brookline will be able to boast. of efficient a fire department as any in the state!!" Fire Station #7 meets criteria A and C of the National Register, An imposing piece of municipal architecture, the Fire Station is notable for its Dutch/Renaissance Revival styling and as a reflection of Brookline's commitment to munieipal improvements and public safetylat the end of the nineteenth century.
