(Staple additional sheets bere) .- RCITECTURAL SIGVIFICANCE (Describe important architectural features and evaluate in terms of other buildings within the conmmnity.) Peabody Court is a four story H-plan brick building with many bays and projections. It is generously set back irom the street and well-landscaped. Architectural elaboration includes a rusticated first story, Iimestone corner quoins, sills and keystone lintels, a belt course above the basement and first story, and' wooden cornice with a brick parapet. The fenestration is generally 6/6.
The courtyard type apartment building originated by Ralph Adams Cram with Richmond Court on Beacon Street in Brookline (1898) was widelyonfinueowed IISTORICAL SIGNIFICANCE (Explain the role owners played in local or state history and how the building relates to the development of the coummity.) - While most of the surrounding neighborhood was laid out in 1886, the land where Peabody Court is now located was kept as an open field until 1916.
