White 3/86 IATIONAL REGISTER CRITERIA STATEMENT (if applicable) 102 Staniford St meets Criterion A as a rare surviving ensemble of farm buildings representing Auburndale's agricultural beginnings. ARCHITECTURAL SIGNIFICANCE Describe important architectural features and evaluate in terms of sther buildings within the community. This farmstead was originally a south-facing structure, three bays wide and one bay deep. The entrance is now located on the east elevation in what was formerly the rear (north) ell. entrance is set within a full-width entrance porch with palred posts, treillage and an open-work balustrade. Ihe small, round-headed gable windows and boxed eaves reflect the house's original vernacular Italianate character.
HISTORICAL SIGNIFICANCE Explain the role owners played in local or state history and how the suilding relates to the development of the community. This residence has been owned by members of the arey family for over one hundred years. During the l9th century the property was operated as a farm, and two large barns remain north of the house.
