Description Materials (enter categories from instructions) The Rawlings-Brownell House, 318 Rawlings Street, is a two story frame building including a plain cornice with gable end returns and corner pilasters with doric capitals. The addition of two decorative porches in 1870 reflects the growing popularity of Folk Victorian detailing in Fayette County, inspired primarily by High Victorian Italianate side in 1853. All walls are constructed of walnut clapboards. The gabled roof with asbestos shingles contains a small triangular dormer window above the Rawlings Street 1s emphasized by a wide band of plain wood trim with cornice returns across the gable end. The corners of the building are highlighted by pilasters. The two porches, which are with carved brackets and a cornice resembling the Italianate style.
