History and Significance Designed by E.A. Hobart, this is one of 21 remaining Hobart steel houses , Moderne, and Art Deco styles into an eclectic mixture. Built entirely of welded steel the house is an engineering and artistic E.A. Hobart house, and sets up a hill to the west of Ridge Ave, directly across from Edgehill Large patio on rear of the house, surrounded by tennis court and large garden area with small manmade pond and Alice in Wonderland statuary.

Hobart House, Troy, Miami County, OH (Hobart Welded Steel Houses Thematic Resource The Edward A. Hobart house, an original Hobart welded steel home, is significant under Edward A. Hobart was the son of Clarence C. Hobart, and the president of Hobart Brothers style. Like the other Hobart houses, this building is made entirely of light-weight welded steel, prefabricated in the Hobart factory on W. Main Street.
The house is also significant for its eclectic mixture of styles, predominantly Prairie style, with Moderne, similar to the other Hobart houses, such as the streamlined steel kitchen cabinets and The significance of this less than 50 year old house is justified as a continuance of the 2 contributing buildings "Dimaxion"house.As originally designed the first floor fireplace was pure Art Deco with reminiscent of the"central core" seen in Keck's"House of Tomorrow"and Fuller's steel houses and the only remaining custom designed steel house not in a Colonial Revival Criteria A and C and Exception G.
