Maxwell House possesses integrity of location, design, setting, materials, 1708 08 workmanship, feeling and associations.

It is significant as the most fully ample of the Shingle Style in Winchester (see forms: #393, 435, 279). Defining features include the shingle skin that wraps the entire house, the sweeping roofline, the corner tower with horizontal bands of windows, and porches contained within the plane of the building. The house meets criterion C ofAthe National Register of Historic Places. ARCHITECIURAL SIGNIFICANCE Describe important architectural features and evaluate in terms of other buildings within the community. The Maxwel1 House is a 22 story house that faces a gable end with sweeping leahi-to profile to the street. A porch is contained beneath the lean-to, while another fs feceßsed'fh the center of the facade. A conical tower with horizontal bands of windows rises from the opposite side of the facade.
