The house symbolizes a new era of prosperity for the town after 1840 and the coming of the railroad. It retains integrity of 1ocatdoni the NRHP design, feeling and association, and meets criterion C local level. ARCHITECIURAL SIGNIFICANCE Describe important architectural features and evaluate in terms of other buildings within the community.
This is one of a few Greek Revival houses remaining in Wakefield with a front porch of fluted Doric columns, a relatively high style practice for this architecurally conservative town. The porch turns the corner to shelter the side as well. The five bay house retains the Georgian-federal form of gable roof parallel to the street; its center door surround features a fluted architrave surround with corner blocks and long sidelights. The lawn is defined by a delicate, almost Federal style wooden fence, few of which survive in Wakefield. This house was built after the area was Corathsseetbsloafterptedraetsuldavldedt15a just before the railraod had opened through town, and 1860, when industries made possible by its efficient transportation were thriving, the population doubled in size. This is one of the finest of the houses which were s tavon keo is or tus faceri ronc gry so , built in the newly prosperous period. Its first owner was Joseph W. Vinton, Street is named.
