It meets Criterion Cof the NRHP on the local level. ARCHITECTURAL SIGNIFICANCE Describe important architectural features and evaluate in terms of other buildings within the community.

This is one of the best and purest examples of high style Colonial Revival domestic building in Greenwood, and one of few on the east side of Main Street. The 2½ story house displays the expanded proportions and asymmetrical massing of Queen Anne building in the turreted tower, corner oriel, wide rounded bay windows, fish scale shingle, and expansive front porch. Colonial Revival details are found in the hip roof dormers, which are paired on the front elevation, balustraded hip roof, and porch with paired columns on high plinths, which extend to form an elegant porte cochere. HISTORICAL SIGNIFICANCE Explain the role owmers played in local or state history and how the building relates. to the development of the community. Henry H. Savage, who built this house, was a broker in Boston, and later a developer, who planned the subdivision of his acres north of Oak Street.

The grandiose scheme, never exactly realized, was shown as paper streets on the atlas of 1889. Actual development came more slowly, and Gerard Street was not laid out until 1925. Suburban settlement of his development was dependent on car transportation, rather than rail, as in Wakefield Park, or street car, as in Greenwood Park just to the south. 78 in 1918 a Broker.
