ARCHITECIURAL SIGNIFICANCE Describe important architectural features and evaluate in terms of other buildings within the community. This is one of Wakefield's finest Craftsman Style bungalows. It is a classically designed one story in height under a low pitched roof. Iwin gables on the north facade cover the porch and pergola area.
Gables are filled in with a lattice design on all facades and each is ornamented with a roof beam extension with a vega-like appearance. The very wide eaves are supported with decorative carved rafters. The house is beautifully maintained. HISTORICAL SIGNIFICANCE Explain the role owners played in local or state history and how the building relates to the development of the community. The property on which this house was built was part of Stoneham until the 1880s when Wakefield annexed a large western section which was still largely farmland. Some development had begun north of Albion Street but this area was undeveloped as late as 1906. The area still has some of its rural character although nearby development 1s rapidly changing this aspect.
