It retains integrity of location, setting, design, materials, workmanship, feeling and association, and meets Criterion C of the NRHP on the local level. ARCHITECIURAL SIGNIFICANCE Describe important architectural features and evaluate in terms of other buildings within the conmunity. This is one of Wakefield's high style Queen Anne houses and its design is unique in the town. It is 2½ stories in height beneath hipped, rather than the usual gable, roof.

Transverse gables and a northwest corner tower add volume and comolexity to the plan as does the oriel in the east facade gable. An east porch has Italianate pillars as supports with panelled brackets. A similar porch is on the south facade. The surface of the house is given visual interest with decorative shingle work, panelling and a stringcourse. HISTORICAL SIGNIFICANCE Explain the role owners played in local or state history and how the building relates to the development of the conmunity.. Charles Jordan was a Wakefield physician who retired to open and run a pharmacy in town. He lived in town on Avon Street in 1874 and bought farm land on the west side of town in the 1880s when Wakefield Park was starting its development.. Some of his land became part of that development, and on the southern edge of it he built this house. The street was known as Mt.

Pleasant Avenue in the 1880s and sometime thereafter changed to Jordan Avenue. Dr. Jordan's son headed the Wakefield Jordan Furniture Company wicker manufacturing firm.
