With its well preserved decorative detailing, the building retains integrity of location, design, materials, workmanship, and association and fulfills Criterion C of the National Register of Historic Places on the local level. ARCHITECTURAL SIGNIFICANCE Describe important architectural features and evaluate in terms of other buildings within the community. One of few brick Queen Anne style houses : in Somerville, 5 Prospect Hill is well detailed with string courses of inset terracotta and polychrometic arched windows openings. The gable front is accented with punchwork bargeboarding. HISTORICAL SIGNIFICANCE Explain the role owners played in local or state history and how the building relates to the development of the conmunity. Prospect Hill Avenue was cut through from Munroe Street to Medford Street between 1874 and 1884. This brick house, one of few in the area, was built ca.
