Stairvells.and front parlor side walls have geometric pattern decorative lights. Window sash is 6/1 with simple surrounds. HISTORICAL SIGNIFICANCE Explain the role owners played in local or state history and how the building relates to the development of the community. The Greendale section of northern Worcester was subdivided in the first decades of the 20th century, and developed as a single- and multi-family residential neighborhood.
It served both those employed in nearby manufacturing firms, particularly che Norton Company, and those who commuted by streetcar to employment in other parts of the city. The greatest concentration of three-deckers in the neighborhood were built in the southwest section, where the Petterson-Archer Three-Decker was built ca. 1920. The first owner of both 80 and 76 Fairhaven Road was Lars Petterson, a contractor who owned more than a dozen other buildings in the Greendale and Lincoln Street areas. Residents in 1920 included Raymond Knowles, a steamfitter; Jefferson Pierce, a foreman; and Dorothy Ramsdell, a stenographer In the 1920s the house was owned by Silas Archer, who also lived here.
Residents in 1930 included Burton White, a cost clerk for American Steel and Wire; Marsden Lewis, a sweeper for the Norton Company; and Kenneth Whitcomb, a production clerk for the Heald Machine Company.
