It is significant for its association with the early development of a multi-family, working-class, ethni neighborhood on the southern slope of Vernon Hill. It is also an unusually well-preserved and well-detailed example of local Queen Anne three-decker design. The Hunt Three-Decker thus meets criteria A and C of the National Register of Historic Places on the local level.

The asymmetrical main facade has a three-tier entry bay porch supported by solid, square columns and with central balustrades, probably the result of a circa 1925 rebuilding. The porch is flanked by a three-story, curved bay window. The house is clad by wood clapboard, with shingle bands between the stories. Windows have 2/1 sash, and many have caps with decorative rope molding. 1900, the Hunt Three-Decker was located on the southern slope of Vernon Hill, the city's most concentrated and extensive district of 20th century three-decker development. The stimulus for multi-family residential development on the southern and southwestern parts of the neighborhood came from the south: many residents were employed as wireworkers at the nearby South Works and Quinsigamond Village Works steel mills. Working- class families of both Irish and Swedish hetitage located here. The first known owner of 26 Louise Street was David Hunt, a wireworker. Tenants in 1902 included Peter McGee, a fireman; and Thomas Murray, a helper. Ten included August Lundblad, a machinist; and Carl Fors, who ran a brass foundry. In the 1920s, the building was owned by Frank. and Danicilia Aniusiancia, who were not local residents.
Tenants in 1920 were Frank Savage, a laborer; William Freeburn, a fireman; and Theodore Strand, a machinist.
