Built in 1883-1884, the house contains the following characteristics of that style: a hipped roof with wide overhanging eaaves, a of two Italianate residences in the village of Martinsburg, located in southern Knox County. The other house, located on Liberty Street is an intact frame Italianate built, c. 1870-1880. The village of Martinsburg is located in Clay Township, southeast Knox Williamsbug and Hanover. These earlier villiages were united as Martinsburg in 1828. Early settlers came to this section of Knox County from Pennsylvania and William Mcwilliams in 1818. During the period 1818-1884 eighteen different Daniel McKee in 1884. The elder McKee was a settler from Greene County, Pumphrey family. During this period the house was leased to Guy Forbing, a land, harvested the timber, and resold land for complete clearing and use for farming.
