The National Weather Service names Fishs Eddy in 12 storm reports between 2006 and 2025: 5 hail, 4 thunderstorm wind, 2 flood, 1 tornado. No death or injury is recorded in these reports. | When | Event | Place named | Harm | What the report says |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| August 2011 | Flood | Fishs Eddy | $50,000 | The East Branch of the Delaware River at Fishes Eddy crested at 16.04 feet at 400 pm EST August 28th, 2011. |
| August 2023 | Tornado (EF0) | Fishs Eddy | $15,000 | A tornado briefly touched down along the south shore of the East Branch Delaware River near Fishs Eddy causing damage to trees. An eyewitness reported seeing his 75-100 foot hemlock tree twist and snap off about halfway up the trunk. Another eyewitness captured video of a rotating wall cloud in the general vicinity of this |area of damage. The tornado crossed O&W Road, proceeding uphill causing further damage to some trees in the forest and powerlines along Hubbell Hill Road. Due to extremely steep terrain, the evidence of further tornado damage was unobtainable through these wooded areas. Additional tree damage was observed at the intersection of O&W Road and Halls Island Road to the southeast of East Branch. The tornado is believed to have skipped through the mountainous area before lifting over the Beaver Kill. No further damage was noted or reported across the river toward Baxter Mountain. |
| May 2025 | Thunderstorm Wind | Fishs Eddy | $13,500 | A thunderstorm moved through parts of the Town of Hancock. This storm produced a weak microburst, which resulted in uprooted trees and some snapped smaller trees along its path. Some of the uprooted trees may have also been aided by saturated soil conditions. The first visible tree damage was located in a wooded area, before the thunderstorm continued to move northward and crossed Bodoit Road, resulting in more uprooted trees along the road and at some residents' yards along the road. The storm then crossed the East Branch Delaware River and uprooted several more trees on |a small island in the middle of the river. More tree damage and damage to a power pole bracket was observed along Old Route 17 and along NY State Highway 17, before the storm tracked over hills north of NY State Highway 17. The last observed tree damage was located along Tar Hollow Road. Additional tree damage was observed via drone images. |
